With Borderlands 3 being free on the Epic Games Store, the gaming community continues to boil over with this first-person shooter. Although it has been released for many years, Borderlands 3 has always owned a large and loyal fan base. In this article, let’s explore the Borderlands 3 tips gamers need to know for rookies and veterans alike.
Tips to play Borderlands 3 gamers need to know
Use elemental damage strategically
First and foremost, players need to pay more attention to elemental damage in Borderlands 3 than ever before. Since Slag is gone, there is a rebalancing of elemental counts and corresponding element usage which, depending on the situation, makes a big difference in damage. Please use Corrosive give Armor, Shock give Shield, Fire give Red Health.

While it doesn’t include the Cryo damage or the new elemental type Radiation, these two are more versatile and can be used in most situations without issue. Plus, on Mayhem modes and in True Vault Hunter, elemental damage becomes even more important.
Collaborate to scale and earn easily
The scaling in Borderlands 3 is truly something of a miracle. In Cooperation Mode, each player will see enemies scaled to their level, regardless of the difference between players.

This means that level 5 and 50 players can team up with each other while still getting their own level drop weapons, enjoy fighting against moderately challenging enemies, and gain relative experience. Basically, cooperation only brings benefits, not harm.
Ragdolling the enemy is actually quite useful
Many people didn’t like ragdolling in Borderlands 3 at first, however, as the game goes on and enemies become more aggressive and tougher, it really becomes a sort of professional strategy to use methods that can defeat enemies.

If enemies are in the air or on the ground, they will not attack the player. Plus, for particularly nasty enemies, there are plenty of easy ways to take them down.
Weapon makers are more important than ever
More than any other Borderlands title, the producer makes all the difference. In the previous games, a lot of the weapons had minor changes, but for the most part, they were the same.

Although there are still small differences such as reloading explosive bullets, splash damage, elemental damage, … But Borderlands 3 has integrated weapon manufacturers into the story.
Players will actually spend most of their time going through the manufacturer’s headquarters. Pay attention to the gun maker, that’s more important in this game.
Check and set up the Social tab
Players should link their SHIFT account as soon as possible because it’s the best way to redeem the Golden Key that is floating everywhere, getting VIP points is super easy and can collect some awesome gear (especially for Zane). More rewards will also show up in the future.

Also, in the Social menu, pay attention to the Mail tab. This is where players will get rewards from challenges spread across the map, like Hammerlock’s Hunts. A lot of Borderlands 3 players have overlooked this and are missing out on free guns in their inbox.
Upgrading the SDU is very important
Upgrading space is crucial in every Borderlands game, but BL3 seems to bring a ton of new items. On the Sanctuary Ship there are vending machines Ammo Dump and Dr. Zed’s Meds. In that same area is the Marcus Munitions Shop, where the player can upgrade the capacity of the magazine.

Upgrade every gun’s ammo to stage 3, as the first two upgrades only cost 1000 and 3000 each. Second, upgrade your backpack, grenades and safe storage because Vault Hunter needs as much space as possible for the mountains of guns they will fire.
Explore to make the map clearer
The fog of war in Borderlands 3 is a new thing. It’s a pretty cool system, as it shows where the player has traveled and which areas are still unexplored. It’s certainly tedious to clear every bit of the fog, but there’s a lot of content to watch. Players should explore the planets more, as challenges and collectibles are fairly easy to find in the process.

Additionally, as players unlock more collectibles and side quests, having a fully explored map means that every icon is visible. There’s nothing more satisfying than playing without knowing where Ellie’s car is and being able to quickly check in on the map.
